Searching folders

I have a folder with about 700 with family pictures that haven't been sorted. When I entered the files in this folder, for speed I coded them like this:
I would enter something like this:
For photos of my wife Mary: 101mmmfg302.jpg, 4568MMM39.Jpg, 85369mmm.jpg etc
For photos of my dog: 150DDD236.jpg, 16ddd2398.jpg, ddd2516, etc
I have four such catagories labeled in such a manner.
When I search the folder for example: mmm the results only show 15 pictures. There are well over 150 in the folder. Why aren't all of the jpg's with "mmm" in the file listed? they were in XP.
The above holds true for "ddd' as well as the other coded photos?? Very few of the files are shown with the search. All have at least 100 photos.
Any help appreciated

How do you have indexing set up?
What wild card characters did you use for the search (ie ???mmm*****.jpg)
Is indexing set to index all the folders where the pics reside?
