so im pretty sure at this stage i need a new laptop, it all started earlier when i tried to update my windows software and it wouldn't allow me, so i tried to open a program as admin, it wouldn't work it would just sit there and load indefinitely. so i turned off my laptop, turned it back on, tried loading the update again, it wouldn't update again, so i tried opening start and searching for update and i opened it, clicked on it, wouldn't load and then i couldn't type or click on anything in the start menu, i restart my laptop again and see something about to many 16 bit programs running, so i look up some solutions and i find i probally need to do a system restore, so i open the start menu, try to do a system restore but again it wont load and i dont own a system restore disk, I try going to safe mode and doing it, safe mode says i dont have any previous save points or something along those lines so i cant do it. now when i try and open windows update i get a message saying ::{26ee0668 etc etc etc, the remote procedure call failed and did not execute, so now i can not only open anything but if i even try to open anything on my desktop is just loads indefinitely and i cant click on my desktop.
Now im stuck, i can use the internet, but that's about it, no programs will load, and i cant seem to open any system32 programs to try and fix the problem, also i cant reset anything, so it looks like im stuck.
thanks for the help in advance, overall im not super computer literate, ive managed to make sure i have no viruses or malware, and ive fixed most of my own problems in the past, and on top of that im pretty frustrated at the moment, so i do apologize is some of this dident make sense, i just want to problem solved so i dont have to buy a new laptop

Try to run a System File Check.
To do this type cmd in search, right click to run as Administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW
It may need to be run up to three times before successful
Let us know the results from the report at the end

thanks for the help, my laptop managed to fix itself, lucky i know, but i have been having issues now for the last few weeks, this is worst then the last few issues, but still. i greatly appreciate the help, and i am going to back up all my stuff, because i have a feeling my laptop is towards the end of its lifespan. running those scans anyway just to see what pops up, but i think this problem is all solved. glad i got lucky today- Marked As Answer by Vincent Wang-MCSCMicrosoft Contingent Staff, Moderator Wednesday, February 27, 2013 8:08 AM

Thank you for reporting back.
Excellent idea re Backing Up there.
Tis good "insurance" to ALWAYS have a current Back Up.
Good luck!
