    I want to alter my advanced display settings but everytime I go there, the tab button for it is in transparent letters and will not allow me to alter the settings. I have administrative access in my only account on my windows 7 but it won't let me change my advanced settings.

    Hi,

    What's the kinds of your graphic card?

    Please check the Group Policy “User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Display\Disable the Display Control Panel” can be used to disable all the settings under Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Screen Resolution.  

    Also, please update the graphic card to the latest for check.
