Do you have the correct middleware installed for your token? Does your Aladdin EToken require P11 middleware to be installed? Or does it have the approrpiate mini driver installed?

I'm assuming this worked for you in another operating system, but you must have installed some specific Aladdin software.

Yes, I just have the same problem. my etoken works perfectly fine with my vista + ie 8. But for windows 7 rc, it never worked. I have installed PKI 4.5 for etoken.

When I opened a secure page, it said that I need to log in. But the log in window never pops up as it does on vista + ie 8.

Anyone knows how to solve this problem? Thank you.

WORK-AROUND for eToken with Windows 7:

When attempting to use a smartcard for logon, the following web page error is returned:

"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."

There is a known problem with the eToken software. Aladdin has confirmed that full support for Windows 7 will not be available until 1Q 2010.

To work around this issue, use Firefox to log on with a smartcard.

You will need to update the security device list. In Firefox:
    -Click Tools, Options, Advanced.
    -Click the encryption tab.
    -Click Security Devices.
    -Click Load.
Module Name: enter "eToken PKCS#11 Module"
          Module Filename: browse to c:\windows\system32\etPKCS11.dll
-OK back to the main page.

This work-around is compliments of Unisys IT :-)

Software is required to properly read your certificate card. It can depend on the card and the reader.

Many software which works on XP will not properly work on Vista or Win 7. So until the company which issued your card and/or reader updates the software for the newer operating systems, you will have to remain on your old.

It doesn't support Windows 7 yet.

This version works on Windows 7 and support only smart-card logon scenario, not integration with Outlook, Web client.

    I have just tested with 5.1 SP1.

It works fine with Firefox 3 and Chrome 3 but not with IE8 with last update.

With chrome, I have exactly the same window  as IE8 where I choose the certificate. but with chrome and not with IE8 I have after the windows where I put my password and so, access to the website (Renault too).

    So...

The PKI 5.1 SP1 has officially been released on Jan 28th.

But against all hopes it still doesn't work on all computers using Win7 and IE 8.

Most colleagues were able to login with IE 8, some were not. For them it works fine with Firefox and Chrome - but not with IE8.
I don't know why but if anyone has some more ideas which settings have to be modified, please let me know.

I already contacted SafeNet some days ago. In their opinion there is no problem with the eToken/PKI Client but with the Internet Explorer.
As the login works with Firefox/Chrome all eToken based settings seem to be correct.

The case is still open but I don't think SafeNet can help me with the problem as it seems to be caused by Microsoft's IE 8.

So if anybody has an idea which MS based settings have to be modified, please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

Should I receive a helpful answer from SafeNet I'll post it in here.

I don't mean to hijack the thead, but I figured if we have it all in one location, better for anyone searching for this in the future.

    Windows 7 user

I downloaded the 5.1 from the RU site as well.  Unlike 5.0, this one actually installed!  It also reads the information from the eToken.  Such as in the client, I can view all pertinent info.

However, I'm using (attempting to anyway) this eToken to RDP into work.  We have our TSGateway setup to only allow smart card logons through PKI.

What I don't get is how come the client software can read it, however, when I try to logon through RDP the "windows security" window tells me I have no certs installed?  I can clearly see it in the client...

Now for the really odd part.  At my home network when trying to access data from another PC, the "windows security" window shows me the cert...just not with RDP.

    hi ,

i have been using the software from the day the started with it , i do two main things , i close all other programs and follow set up , close all security software and no 2 i reboot after install , all works fine for us then

it can be complicated i agree but its one of the best products around , we use it with ironkey and secure stick ( not available for home users only gov ) and it works great

    Yes, I am.

In the meantime, SafeNet did a remote session with one of the colleagues where the IE Login doesn't work.
SafeNet did not find a problem but will continue with investigating the error.

As I said, as soon as I receive an answer/a solution from SN, I will post it here.
