First I should say I have experiance of using ASR backup on XP and 2003 machines but have had very little to do with Vista and 2008 machines so I suspect things have changed somewhat now I have got to Windows 7.<br/> Firstly could someone confirm that the ASR backup method has now totally gone from Windows 7? And presumably the nearest thing to this is the creating a system image in backup?<br/> <br/> Anyway I have had a go with the system image method today and have one question. My original intention was to send the image to DVD(s). I was warned that I would need around 13GB to store the image and inserted my first DVD into the burner. Anyway the image was getting sent to the DVD and I presumed I would be prompted to insert a second, third DVD etc. However I got the message &quot;The media in the drive has too little space&quot;. The ASR restore mechanism still exists in Windows 7. To be able to perform an ASR restore, you must backup a system image. <br/><br/>When you backup an image to a DVD, are you getting an error indicating something went wrong with writing to the DVD? Can you insert a fresh DVD and try again? Anyways, looks like there is a bug that it does not ask for a new DVD when it finds the current DVD unsuitable.
