Unanswered XP Mode.

I recently moved my system (C: drive) to a new SSD using SATA 2. Since then, though it might be unrelated of course) I have normally (that means it seemed to work once) been unable to get the integration features to work. (I mean that I can not see the other drives on the Win7 pro system). The mother board is an ASUS P6X58D-E. I mention this because the drives attached to the SATA 2 spigots appear in the list of drives "Safely remove drives."

There is no *.vsv file in the Virtual machines folder, in fact the folder is empty. There are entries in the virtual applications folder.

    Hi,

Firstly, please let us know how you migrated your system to a new drive.

Secondly, I noticed you said “I cannot see the other drives on the Win7 pro system”. Do you mean that the drives of your host system failed to be automatically mapped in Windows XP Mode? If so, please check the following:

    1. Please refer to Share host drives with a virtual machineand check if the settings are correct.

    2. If Integration Features are corrupted, can you disable and re-enable or reinstall the Integration Features? Did you receive any error message?

The default location of XP Mode virtual hard disk file is C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Virtual PC\Virtual Machines. If the folder is empty, please open settings of XP Mode and determine the location. After that, please rename the .vsv file, boot into Windows XP Mode and see how it works.

In addition, please check if AHCI Mode is enabled in your BIOS.

    Hope this helps.

I cloed the old SSD drive onto a new and larger SSD.
Secondly, I noticed you said “I cannot see the other drives on the Win7 pro system”. Do you mean that the drives of your host system failed to be automatically mapped in Windows XP Mode? If so, please check the following:

    1. Please refer toShare host drives with a virtual machineand check if the settings are correct.

The procedure oulined in the link does not work in Win 7.  If I start XPMode under tools I can see the setting. One hard drive is present and integration features are auto enabled.

    2. If Integration Features are corrupted, can you disable and re-enable or reinstall the Integration Features? Did you receive any error message?

     I tried this. No effect.

I don't see how to do this in settings. I found the file, tried to rename it and it disappeared from the folder. I restatred XPMode and it did not enable the integration features and the file reappeared. Again changing the name made it diasappear.

The funnything is that from time to time the integration features work and I can see the HD on the host machine. I rarely if ever see the printers

In addition, please check if AHCI Mode is enabled in your BIOS.

    Should be OK.

    Hope this helps.

I apologize for not responding sooner. I have been traveling and couldn't access the machine.

I downloaded the file. It was the same one that I had been using but I unloaded the earlier version and installed XP mode again from the new file. The result is the same. The integration features are not enabled. I can access USB drives but not the hard drives on the Win7 machine.

I suspect their is something wrong in the registry. Where might I look?

    Thanks for your help.
