I have windows 7 home edition.
I use an external drive which I use to backup my files to.
When I was using widows XP it worked O.K.
But now my files are being saved in a VHD format.
I can still open my old files in windows 7,but my new files are being saved in a VHD format.
How can I get to read/see these files?

Windows backup uses the VHD format for backups.
You should be able to mount your VHD as a hard drive (through disk management) and access your backed up files.

Why do you want to open them? If you need to restore files from the backup, the backup and restore program has no problems handling the file format. If you want to have backup files which you can read and reload yourself, don't use Windows backup. Simply copy the files.Bill
