QuestionAccess Rights issue during initial wizard after new install

    I installed fresh Win7 Ultimate x64.

Installed the VM compoenents and followed the instructions.

I enabled and logged in as Administrator.

    I run the wizard.

At the window that is about to setup the hard drive sharing, upon clicking OK, I am greeted with an error message saying the user doesn't have access rights to perform the task.  I continue further through, and the other windows do the same.

i have tried everything I can think of, no dice.

    What am I missing here?

Is UAC preventing you from doing this?  Where are you trying to set up the hard drive?  Is it another user's folder?  Perhaps you don't have permission?

    1. No, UAC is not preventing me.  I have UAC turned all the way down.  The error message is a native Win32 error window, with a red "X".
    2. This machine only has one hard drive, the C: drive.   I am just using the defaults as the wizard is presenting, clicking "next" as i go.
    3. In each case, whether I'm logged in as my usual, or as administrator, the paths that the Wizard use, are relative to the current user. (it isn't out-of-bounds)
    4. Its obviously a permissions issue, but there is no apparent reason why.  The error message states it is access rights.  I have brought up the properties window, security-tab for each/every folder it is targeting, and added the "administrators" group, the "administrator" user, my various users that have been added to the "administrators" group.  I am at a loss as to why it will not write to these folder locations.   Is there a custom group or something?  Some type of custom setting>

I don't understand why noone else has run into this, its quite odd.

Do you think maybe it is because I dont use the new Homegroup feature?

Also, maybe its a setting under "Advanced Network Settings" for the box?

    thanks for your help!

Hmm, not sure.  I don't use homegroup either, never set it up on a Win7 box.
So it doesn't work with any administrator account?
