Can I extend VHD demo period with MSDN license key?

I want to download and use this pre-built VHD at home: SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Standard (x64)
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=26113
Can I extend the demo period with a MSDN key? I'm a developer and I want to use the VHD capability but I don't want to have to build my own VHD by doing the installs myself. Does Microsoft support and facilitate this kind of activity?
My goal is to have a have a "clean" server to develop, test, deploy, and refresh with OS patches, Application patches, etc...
Seeking advice and suggestions...

This forum has nothing to do with the MSDN VHD demos.

Wednesday, February 22, 2012 7:45 PMMaybe I misunderstood but I thought I needed Virtual PC to use them? I'm asking about pre-built virtual-pc files (*.vhd) that run in Virtual PC.

They won't run in Virtual PC because they are 64-bit operating systems and Virtual PC does not support 64-bit guests.
Your referenced link also states: Import the VM into Hyper-V
System requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
Hyper-V is required to run this virtual machine. In addition to Hyper-V, you will need a 64-bit system with hardware-assisted virtualization enabled, as well as data execution prevention (DEP).
Hyper-V can be run from one of the following OS environments:
- Windows Server 2008 SP2
- Windows Server 2008 R2
- Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. ”

No versions of Windows Server R2 will run in Virtual PC. R2 is available in 64-bit only and VPC does not support 64-bit guests, as Steve stated earlier.
