USB passthrough to VM

The device is a National Instruments USB6259 Multifunction DAQ. The labview installation in XP is supposed to recognize the device (there is a monitor app) and install the proper driver. In the VMXP device list the USB device is properly identified but it is yellow flagged with a code 10 (device cannot start). The device is not supported in Win7 Pro and never will be.
I have another legacy device with a similar problem although I managed to get in working on one of my laptops but not the other. VMXP just will not recognize the unknown USB device (a USB digital oscilliscope hardware and application by Circuit-Test that worked fine in XP).
The laptops in question are a ASUS G73 (heavy) and ASUS UX31 ultrabook.

1. Please let me know your virtualization platform, it's Hyper-V or VMware or it's XP mode.
2. Please try to uninstall the device driver, then install it again.
Thanks
