QuestionWindows XP mode and roaming user profiles

I am running Windows7 RC on the client and Windows Server 2003 as the DC.

The issue I am experiencing is due to XP mode application publishing:  it publishes the Start Menu shortcuts into the user's roaming profile.  Because the shortcuts created are quite lengthy in name, it seems that the  User Profile Service fails.  This results in an application error 1509 in the event log:

Windows cannot copy file \\doiron-dc.doiron.local$NOCSC$\profiles$\gwdoiron.V2\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Windows Virtual PC\Electronics CAD Applications\OrCAD 16.0\Tutorials\Autorouting PCB Editor\Autorouting the Allegro PCB Editor Tutorial (Electronics CAD).lnk to location C:\Users\gwdoiron\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Windows Virtual PC\Electronics CAD Applications\OrCAD 16.0\Tutorials\Autorouting PCB Editor\Autorouting the Allegro PCB Editor Tutorial (Electronics CAD).lnk. This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights.

DETAIL - The filename or extension is too long.

In the interim I have manually rearranged the profile to shorten the associated file name lengths, but this exposes a problem.  If the VM doesn't actually follow the user around to different machines (i.e. not stored on a central server, which I can't envision ever happening in a production environment without an RDP-based solution) shouldn't this (by default) be placed in the machine's default profile and not the user's profile?
