Thursday, March 08, 2012 5:39 PMNot sure how this problem could be CP-related. Is it possible that you're just forgetting to go into the properties of the account to configure the SMTP requirements of your ISP/email provider? Sometimes they can be pretty specific, involving particular ports, check boxes, etc.

Friday, March 09, 2012 7:23 AMas I said, with the same configurations works great in Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 DP. I tried combinations of Windows 8 CP 32-64bit with outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 32-64bit but...without results. With thunderbird in Windows 8 CP works great. So.. it think it should be a client problem ? Or the way how Windows CP and Outlook understands ?

Is it a public mail service? I'd be happy to try it here in Outlook 2010 SP1 (x86) on W8 x64.

Sunday, April 22, 2012 6:43 PMI do have exactly the same problem. I do use Office 2010 and Outlook. No problem with Windows 7 but it want accept the settings in Windows 8. I even have copied all the settings in Windows 7 and applied them in Windows 8, but no result.

Monday, April 23, 2012 3:55 PMThat really is baffling. Is it a service that I can try? POP or IMAP (I haven't been testing IMAP)? Perhaps it's the same service as the OP tried, but he never mentioned which that was. For testing purposes, what about if you try a different service (e.g. if you're testing Gmail, try Hotmail, or vice-versa)?

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 7:05 PMI have the same issue. I'm considering uninstalling Outlook and then re-installing it. This only happened after the upgrade to WIN8. Everything worked fine prior to that.

Any specifics at all (see previous post)?
It's an IMAP account for sure. It appears to be a common issue in W8 CP and Outlook. I have this issue too, meaning I have to use Thunderbird to access my inbox, which is far from ideal. I have no idea why Thunderbird works?

I have the same problem. Outlook 2007 worked great with Windows7. I simply upgraded to Windows8 and Outlook can no longer see my POP and SMTP server to RR. I created a new account and it still doesn't work.
Did anyone solve this problem?

I have a similar problem. I am trying to connect to my gmail.com accounts using pop3. I have no difficulties in Win 7, but using the same settings in Win 8 results in errors and the inability to send E-mail. I have tried switching off Windows Firewall without success. I have tried different ports and settings without success. I can connect and send E-mails if I set it up as an IMAP account, but that is not what I need.
Any help to get this working would be greatly appreciated.
