’m trying to import an VM from the SRV 2008 R2 Hyper-V manager into the Win 8 CP Hyper –V Manager. My Problem is that I always get an error: "The Hyper-V Machine Management Service encountered an unexpected error… (0x80070534)"<o:p></o:p>

Does anyone has any idea what the problem here could be. When I try to create a new VM I get the same error?<o:p></o:p>

There should be greater detail in the Hyper-V specific event log under Event Viewer - Applications and Services Logs - Microsoft - Hyper-V

In there you should find the detailed event and a greater clue to the root of the issue.

Okay, so the mapping was created and something happened with applying the seciruty model.  (Bing translated your message as: "Mapping between account names and security IDs was done")

Was this VM previously exported or not?

Also, did it have snapshots?  If so, did any of the snapshots (or the last state) have an ISO attached to the VM?

Are you able to create a new VM (not import)?

What was the detail from the event logs?

There should be more events in the logs than a single "encountered an error" - thre should be events surrounding it.

This might be a known issue.  Can you make sure that the system locale and the user locale match - then restart the computer and see if this reproduces?

    Cheers,

Ok...  I figure I might have this issue as I have both UK and US settings on my machine...

How can I I tell what the System and User Locale is set to?
