    Hi Myron,

The windows backup feature is avaliable on all the six Windows 7 versions. However, backup to network share is not avaliable Home Basic, Home Premium and Starter versions.

    Thanks, Abhinav, for your reply.

Does this mean that ALL versions of Windows 7 will be able to do full system image backups? With Vista, full image backups (Complete PC Backup) are limited to Vista Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise. The other versions of Vista can only do file-level backups.

    Best Regards,

So if I wanted to backup the laptop and the desktop to the media center computer I couldn't, and I would have to buy MS home server? Great. Or upgrade all to Ultimate, which would probably be more $$ than another computer. YAY!

In the case of Vista, you can do a manual backup (from the Command Prompt, using WBAdmin) and make backups to a network share.

Yes, you can't do a backup to a network external drive witout having Professional or above (and this was a really STUPID thing for MSFT to have done since most home systems I've seen , at least from HP, are shipping with Home Prem or below). Ticks me off cuz I got new HP TouchSmart for Xmas but it came with Premium so I can't do a backup to my external storage device (HD) unless I upgrade which I don't want to do because I know it will cause a horror list of problems as upgrades always do.
