Use Intune with non-Microsoft Antivirus Products?

If we get Intune, we are not sure we would want to switch to the AV included with Intune. One reason is that it will be a big hassle to revert back if we do not keep renewing Intune after the first year and we also would rather just deal with one A/V product since we plan to use Intune only for laptops which are less than 20% of all of our computers.
Does the Intune web console let you monitor status remotely of other products such as McAfee VirusScan Enterprise?
I would think we would be able to do this through McAfee's ePO console if we were to implement DirectAccess, but we may not be able to get DirectAccess implemented any time soon.

Hi,
Intune works with other AV products but not in the way you describe/want. If you want to continue to use MCAfee for example, you configure Intune to not activate it's AV. With this configuration you don't have two conflicting AV Engines running but you DON'T get any AV monitoring/alerts for you AV in yuor Intune Console.
Does this help?

Tuesday, November 13, 2012 10:23 PMWhen Windows itself reports that Antivirus is not running or out of date and pops up the balloon warning notification to the user about that, does that trigger a monitorable event in the Intune console? Can you get e-mail alerts or console reports of specific Windows error event IDs in the Intune console such as disk errors or anything esle?

Hi,
Windows Intune will only report back whether or not the machine is currently protected by a 3rd party AV solution, it won't report specific info from the AV solutions.
As far as alerts about disk errors and other Windows issues, we do have a set of configurable alerts that you can enable/disable.
