Hii,
As i am evaluating Windows Intune in our test lab setup, can anyone help me to address the following queries:
- Rollback of patches/ softwares from the clients can be done ?.
- Custom alert on the unlicensed installation of softwares ?
- Software distribution on Intunes can be done per user basis ?
- Configuration details and health of the device even though they are leveraging other end point protection ?
- Managed Software : In case if I want to set up policy of giving license for 2 months, after that it should expire.
- System Alert : will it say Anti Virus version is out of date ?
- Is there any way to forcefully stop the download / installation of the software app from the cloud in client side, since I was trying to do it, which is not happening and have to wait.
Hence waiting for the needed queries solutions as soon as possible.
Regards,
Praveen Kumar

Hi Praveen,
Let me try to answer all your questions:
- It can be if the patch/software supports it. Uninstall is a supported feature. http://onlinehelp.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsintune/hh272776.aspx?sl=1 and http://onlinehelp.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsintune/hh272784.aspx
- No alerts available for unlicensed installation of software
- Per user installs are supported by making the software available to users in their company portal. Automated delivery of software to specific users is not supported.
- We report back the status from the Windows Action Center, so if the 3rd party solution is healthy we'll report that. If it's not healthy, we'll report back your machine is not protected.
- No way to automatically expire software, would need to manually remove the software after two months.
- Yes, if you're using Windows Intune Endpoint Protection you'll receive alerts if the malware definition files become out of date.
- No, you cannot stop the download/install of software apps from the Admin Console. It has to be done on the local client.

Hi Jon Lynn,
Thanks for your valuable points. Require your assistance on some of the following queries:
- Actually if we keep the software in the cloud, users can download /install the apps from the company portal. But I need to have only few softwares available for specific users but not all the softwares in the portal to download / install. Is there any feature available in Intune so that we can assign only few softwares per user basis.
- System Alert of any other anti-virus version of status "Out of Date" other than Endpoint Protection ?
- On the local client side when I am trying to stop the software download forcefully it is not happening, after killing the process in task manager also not stopping the download and since the other tasks will be in pending state. So is there any way to handle this issue ?
Waiting for your valuable assistance for the queries.
Thanks,
Praveen Kumar

Hi Praveen,
Let me try to answer your extra questions:
- Yes, create a group for specific users and then target the software towards them. Only they will be able to have access to it.
- No, only Windows Intune Endpoint Protection provides detailed information about Endpoint Status.
- The download is part of a service, so stopping the service and restarting will result in the software download continuing. Once the machine is downloading the software it's too late to stop it, especially if it was a required install. Best practice is to just not make the software available for machines you don't want it to download on.
