Unanswered Powered vs Non-Powered USB Hub

    Hi,

I was wondering if there's any difference between using a powered (AC power) and a non-powered (bus power) usb hub? Would a powered usb hub be much faster than a non-powered one?

I'm asking because currently I have my MPS 2011 server connected via 2 non-powered usb hubs, and mouse movement is very laggy, almost like as if I'm remote controlling the computer from a distance (I'm not by the way).

    Thanks!

    Hello,

usually there is no difference between these two in question of performance. What HW do you have in you server, what kind of client do you use? Just simple mouse and keyboard connected through these hubs?

    Karel,

I have an ASUS F1A75-I Deluxe MB, AMD A8-3850 CPU, 16GB RAM, Force GT 120GB SSD. I only have 2 clients connected to it, and I'm using an extension USB 2.0 cable from the MB USB port to the USB hub, and I only have a mouse and a keyboard connected to the hub.

What else do you think could be causing the laggy cursor movement?

Did you try it without USB extension cable?

Or you can try this one

BTW did you get laggy movement all the time or only for example during playing movies etc?
