2008 RTM x64 upgrade....
-
Sunday, June 14, 2009 7:50 PMI've got a 2 node 2008 x64 cluster enviornment running on an IBM S chassi with shared SAS raid storage.
It's running 8 VM's (4 per node)
Just trying to see how my options for upgradeing are going to be.
I see it as two options right now.
1. being able to do an inplace upgrade (snap copy all drives) take VM's offline and shutdown node 2 and upgrade node 1 to R2. Bring on VM's on node 1 r2 and check it all out. if works take down node 1 bring up node 2 RTM and upgrade node 2 to R2. Then bring vm's online node 2 r2 and test. then shutdown node 2. bring on node 1 and node 2 and check they see each other correctly. then see if I can bring on vm's and start moving them from one node to another and see where it's going to break.
2. create a new 2 node cluster with r2 from clean install. When it's ready.. attach disks from old cluster to new one. (each vm is on it's own disk) and figure out how to import vm's into new cluster. Then play with moving from node to node.
How does this sound?
