My shutdown command does not work.
- I am running windows server 2008 in a network of 22 computers. When using the command prompt, I cannot shut down any of the computers on the network.

- Hi ShaeButter,
Please start the command prompt with "Run as Administrator" option, does it work?
If the problem continues, please let us know the error message WORD BY WORD.
Best Regards,
Wilson Jia

Hai,
I suspects there are some group policy settings to prevent you from shutdown. Check here for that key
Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\User Rights Assignment

- This is a R2-specific forum. Are you using Server 2008 R2?
You should still specify whether this is a a domain and whether this account you're using has permissions on all the computers... Whether there are client and/or network firewalls could also be an issue...- Proposed As Answer byWilson JiaMSFT, ModeratorWednesday, October 28, 2009 9:18 AM
