RAS DHCP IP creates DNS entry
- I have a windows server 2008 R2 machine that has DNS, DHCP, and RAS on it. RAS is reserving 10 IPs in DHCP. The last IP is creating a DNS entry and this entry is being used by the other clients on the local network which obviously does not resolve to a valid ip on the server. How do i tell RAS NOT to register any IPs in DNS?
Thanks

Hello,
Thank you for your post here.
From the description, the RAS server registers 10 IP addresses in the DHCP one of which is used by the local client computer.
When the RRAS server starts with the Use DHCP to assign remote TCP/IP addresses option, it instructs the DHCP client on the RRAS server to obtain 10 IP addresses from its configured DHCP server. The RRAS server uses the first of these 10 IP addresses obtained from the DHCP server for the RRAS server’s interface.
You can change the number of IP addresses that RAS server will register for RAS itself and RAS clients. However, as the first one of the these IP addresses is for RAS server itself. To get rid of this issue, I'd like to suggest you to make sure that all manually assigned static IP addresses has been excluded from the scope in DHCP.
