We recently installed Server 2008 R2 on a server in our offices. We are running Hyper-v and have configured XP virtural machines to run our applications that are not Vista compatible. I can run the applicatons from the server console logged in as administrator.

I am needing to know if there is a way that when a User logs into the server remotely (formerly Terminal Services), for them to be able to run the application without having to put in the administrator name and password everytime they want to run the application?

    Hello Aaron,

There are some suggestions from me:

    ·          For the simplest solution, you can give the Hyper-V guest OS (Windows XP) the access to the corporation network. In that way, your Windows Vista client can start remote desktop connection directly to the virtual machines without logging on to the Windows Server 2008 R2-based RDS.

    ·          Another option is to install Microsoft Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) for Windows Vista on the client machines, which includes Hyper-V Manager. The client user can use the Hyper-V manager to connect to the Hyper-V host and enter the guest virtual machine without using the administrator’s credentials.

    ·          You can also find some methods to improve the compatibility of the applications with Windows Vista, if possible. For example, Windows XP compatibility mode or using Application Compatibility Toolkits (ACT).

    Hope it helps. Thanks.
