VPN Issue

Hey everyone,
I am currently trying to connect to a Windows Server 2008 via VPN. The box on my side is a Solaris 9.0 running the Solaris Client for FTP. We are able to connect to the to the machine running Server 2008 with FTP7, but when we try to issue a -ls command, the box just hangs. When we do a Control + C, it returns a 425 error and closes connection. We have opened up all ports thinking that we may be receiving at a higher port, but this did nothing.
Could someone tell me if the is a known issue between FTP7 and Server 2008 and Solaris 9.0. I was not able to find anything on the internet about this.
OR
Could there be a setting that we need to change within Server 2008 with FTP7?
