Answered Shortcuts on the gray Desktop?

    Beginner's question:

On my Windows Server 2012, I installed some Microsoft Office products.

Their "icons" appear on this gray Desktop, but they are not "shortcuts", they are the true .exe files!

How can I locate these .exe files in a safe place and replace them by peaceful shortcuts?

    Thanks

Just like you created shortcuts in previous versions of the operating system.

It's a little strange that the .exe files would have been placed on your desktop without you specifying to do that.  That is not default behavior.  If they are installed to your desktop, you might want to uninstall and reinstall, ensuring that you select the typical Office folder structure C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14
