    i have windows 2012 installed in bl 460 g8 and attached to san storage it is taking long time to intiliaze and format the lun disk.  with size 1.2 TB

    It makes sense that a large disk takes a long time to format.  If you did not check the box for quick format, you are going to write data to all 1.2 TB.  That's a lot of data to write.

     but when i present the disk to os i didn't find option for quick format i get only format disk with ntfs. so do u have any clue.

    Quick format is the default option.

    Did you mange the disk with Windows disk management?

    How are you getting to that window?  If you go through Disk Management and request to create a simple volume, you get this screen:

    If, after you bring it online and initialize it, the OS will automatically display a window like this:

    I've never seen the screen you are showing, so I can understand your confusion - but now you've transferred the confusion to me. <grin>

    now i got it i want to computer managment and them i got the old view . it working now but still am faceing slowing in formatting the disk any thing related to SAN issue.

    Have you tried performing any actions on the SAN itself?  Is it configured correctly?  Are other systems connected to the SAN having the same issue?  What sort of SAN.  What sort of connection?  What is the rotational speed of the disks?
