    Hi,

I just downloaded the ISO of Windows 2012 and begun to install it as a virtuali machine on my lab-computer. In diffrence from Win8 it demanded me to enter the Serial key at once. Despite I just wanted just to try it out. So I'll effectivly burn a license key now on just well nothing.

Is it supposed to be that way? What can I do if i just want to set up a system for test? Even better if I want to test to set up a system that needs 4-5 servers ( maybe an AlwaysOn cluster) This smells license waste long way.

You can enter a generic key and it will install fine.  Find the list of generic keys here - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj612867.aspx

Or, you can download and use the evaluation copy.  It comes with a key already installed and is good for 180 days.

    Yep,

You coul download the Windows Server 2012 according to the link below:

    Title: Download Windows Server 2012

    URL: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/hh670538.aspx

At the same time, if the evaluation copy is expired, you could run sysprep /rearm to extend your evaluation period.
