    Hello Guys,

I`m trying to install Windows server 2012 on Oracle Vmware Vitual box 4.2  from an Iso image.

The problem is that  my computer`s processor is 32x and when I try to boot the vmware with the Win sever 2012 , it gave an error indicate that it can`t run on 32X processor.

    Please can you advice?

    Hi,

Windows Server 2012 is an x64-based operating system. The processor requirement to install Windows Server 2012 is minimum 1.4 GHz 64-bit processor.

We can’t install x64-based operating system on an x32 hardware platform, you can install Windows Server 2012 on an x64 hardware platform.

    Hello Lawrence,

I know the requirement for installing the server 2012 , but im studying it for my MCSA and need to make a lab using the Vmware.

I just wonder if there`s any other way?

    Thanks,

    R

In your original post you say "Oracle Vmware Vitual box".  In you last post, you say Vmware.  These are actually two different products.  VirtualBox is a hypervisor from Oracle.  VMware is a company that also sells hypervisors.  Are you required to use one?  Or can you use any solution that works?

According to https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch03.html#intro-64bitguests VirtualBox can support 64-bit guests on 32-bit operating systems as long as you have a 64-bit processor that can enable hardware virtualization.  This is pretty typical for hypervisors - they all pretty much depend upon the hardware virtualization capabilities built into new chips.

Or, go out and get a newer system to play with that runs a 64-bit operating system.  If you are trying to study for an MCSA, it really does not make sense to work on a 32-bit system.  The server world has already converted to 64-bits, and the client is going to be there pretty soon.  It's pretty hard to even find a 32-bit client system from any of the major manufactures.

    Well , Thanks Tim .
I know it`s an old system , just thought can use as a lab

I will buy a new one anyway.

    Cheers!
