Clustering Setup Fails
- Hi all
I am attempting to setup a high available cluster with server 2008 r2 enterprise.
The hardware is an Intel Modular Server with 2 blades. At present, I only have 1 NIC confirgured on each which I know is an issue but shouldnt prevent the initial setup ?
The NICS are static IP's 10.0.0.41 and 10.0.0.40 with gateways and DNS all enteredt. Netbios is enabled on both.
When it asks for a cluster name, I eneter a cluster name and enter an IP address that is currently not in use - 10.0.0.11
I have checked DNS and there is no entry for the IP 10.0.0.11
When I attempt to create the cluster, It almost completes and then fails saying cleanup unsuccessful.
The shared storage is setup and ready to go and I took it offline before I attempted to create the cluster. I have two shared LUN's, 1 1GB in size for the Quorom and 1 400GB for the VHD files and the storage passed the config test OK.
There is probably not enough information here but if someone can help, I can provide whatever you require.
thanks
Mark

- Did you run Validation ? and did every test complete ?
- Hi Edwin
I did run validation and I got a warning about the network as I only have 1 NIC on each blade configured. This shouldnt stop it from completing though should it?
I also have Hypr V installed on both blades and have machines running, should I stop them before I create the cluster?
thanks
Mark Hi Mark,
Does any Error Event appear in the Event Viewer?

- Did you look through the report at the end of the installation? You should be able to browse this install report in the c:\windows\cluster\reports folder and see why cluster terminated the install
Visit my blog about multi-site clustering - http://msmvps.com/blogs/jtoner - Hi
All it says is unable to successfully cleanup. Operation returned because the timeout period expired.
I have tried several times now but get the same results.
Any guidance would be appreciated
thanks Hi Mark,
Can you please paste the results in the report file and the Error Event log?

Hi Mark,
How are things going? We have not heard back from you in a few days and wanted to check on the status of the issue. Please let us know how things turned out.
