I have 4 nodes cluster with win 2008 R2. I need to install 4 sql server 2008 R2 instances. of course each node will be assigned to resource group on failover cluster.

My question is: there are already 4 resource groups setup and configured on failover cluster before I start install sql server.

each group is configured with storage, network name and ip address, can I use those groups when I install sql server instances?

is there any need  to remove the ip and the network name from the groups before start installing sql server??? why and how I can do that?

    Thanks,

    Russul

Not sure if this is possible as the SQL 2008 installer creates the cluster groups as part of the installation. I'd recommend that you delete these groups and just let the SQL installer create them for you.
