When initially configured the cluster, I set it up to use a domain admin user. Because other issues - not related with cluster - we had with this account, it was deleted and recreated the same account (The same spelling - identical account name). The cluster service will not start using the newly created domain admin account.

Then I changed the cluster service to use a userid with domain admin rights (also member of the local Administrators group) and password. The service does not start due to the following error:

    Services

Could not start the Cluster Service service on Local Computer.

Error 1314: A required privilege is not held by the client.

This forum is for Windows Server 2008...but no matter....if the W2K3 cluster is at the SP1 level or higher, the system event log entry will tell you what privilege is missing.  You can then review this article - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q269229 and ensure the cluster service account has all those rights and that they are 'effective' rights meaning, no GPOs are yanking them away after they are applied.

Since this is a W2K8 forum I will plug Failover Clustering in W2K8 by saying you will not run into this sisue in W2K8 Failover Clustering...so, give it a try.
