Configuring Port RulesHi All, <div><br/></div> <div>I got 2 box loaded with WIndows 2008 64bits data center with Hyper-V enabled. Each box is connected to 2 different ISP as the public access.</div> <div><br/></div> <div>Box 1</div> <div>-------</div> <div>I have setup 3 Hyper-V with WIndows 2008 64bits Data center with NLB enabled.</div> <div><br/></div> <div>Hyper-V 1</div> <div> <ul> <li>NIC 1 - Connected to the public interface of the Host Machine and have public IP added</li> <li>NIC 2 - Configured with private IP ( 192.168.0.231 )</li> <li>NIC 3 - Configured with private IP ( 192.168.0.232 )</li> </ul> <div><br/></div> <div>Hyper-V 2</div> <div>------------</div> <div> <ul> <li>NIC 1 - Connected with private IP ( 192.168.0.233 )</li> <li>NIC 2 - Connected with private IP ( 192.168.0.234 )</li> </ul> <div> <div>Hyper-V 3</div> <div>------------</div> <div> <ul> <li>NIC 1 - Connected with private IP ( 192.168.0.235 )</li> <li>NIC 2 - Connected with private IP ( 192.168.0.236 )</li> <div><br/></div> </ul> </div> </div> <div><br/></div> <div>I have then setup the NLB cluster as follow:</div> <div><br/></div> <div> <ul> <li>Cluster IP 192.168.0.220</li> <li>Host Member - Hyper-V 2 NIC 1</li> <li>Host Member - Hyper-V 1 NIC 1</li> </ul> <div>The cluster setup successfully and the interface converged successfully for both Hyper-V and I can ping to the cluster IP 192.168.0.220. However, I was having problems to setup the port rules for the mail services ( 192.168.0.233 and 192.168.0.235 ). </div> <div><br/></div> <div><br/></div> <div>Cluster IP address : All</div> <div>Start : 25 End : 25</div> <div>Protocol : Both</div> <div>Mode : multiple</div> <div>Priority : -</div> <div>Load : -</div> <div>Affinity : -</div> <div><br/></div> <div>I can see the port rules status is enabled in the NLB Manager. But when I try telnetting to the cluster IP 192.168.0.220 at the Hyper-V 1 command prompt, I am getting the port connection failed. Local telnet at 192.168.0.233 and 192.168.0.235 has SMTP opened. Any idea where am I missing? </div> <div><br/></div> <div>One thing I notice at Hyper-V server for the 3 NIC, the NLB is not enabled 'checked' , does this has anything to do with it?</div> <div><br/></div> <div>thanks for your time</div> <div><br/></div> </div> </div> </div>© 2009 Microsoft Corporation.
