Hi,
I have working a two CAS array. they are Network Load Balanced and working fine. I have just moved the server farm into a intervlan (Cisco) environment and therefore need a default gateway set in the virtual NIC for intervlan communication. How can this be done?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Thanks Jagadeesh for your reply, but I cannot see the answer in this document for my question.
I need to add a default gateway to my virtual ip address on the NLB so intervlan works.
Thanks

Hello Mike,
I'm sorry for misunderstanding your query. There is no special gateway configuration for NLB. Alternatively you can present a DNS record make it to point for your network. Could you please post us the configuration details here ? so that we would answer your query direct.
Thanks
Jagadeesh

Hi Jagadeesh,
Thanks for your time. My configuration is as follows:
- server01 (CAS)
- Nic 1 - 10.10.16.232/24, DG - 10.10.16.1/24
- Nic 2 - 172.16.1.232/24, No DG
- server02 (CAS)
- Nic 1 - 10.10.16.233/24, DG - 10.10.16.1/24
- Nic 2 - 172.16.1.233/24, No DG
- VIP - Multicast
- Nic - 10.10.16.39/24
I can communicate with the NLB IP from within the same VLAN, but not from other VLAN's. This is due to the VIP having no default gateway so intervlan can work. Not sure how to set one here.
Mike

Monday, March 19, 2012 12:37 PMChanged the Cluster operation mode to Unicast and it works. But I have read this is not a recommended setup for VMware and Exchange 2010. It's working for me though
