I will move this question to the Directory Services forum. Are you attempting to join the Windows Server 2008 computer to an existing domain, or are you attempting to promote the computer to a domain controller in a new domain? Also, what steps did you take when you got the error?

Hi,
I am trying to connect my windows machine to an existing domain on windows 2008 r2 machine.
I added the IP of the machine having the domain in the DNS of my machine and unchecked the IPv6 in both the machines. Then in My Computer --> Properties, under Computer Name Tab clicked on Change. Then changed the option to domain and tried adding the domain. Then I am getting the above mentioned error.

Can you post an ipconfig /all from both the machine trying to join the domain and DC's.
