    Hi every one,

i am facing another issue with windows server 2008. In fact prior to promoting and restarting my DC i had access to all my shares on this win2K8 server. even after finishing promotion i was able to access shared ressources. But since i have restarted the DC no one can access shared ressources on that server from the network . the Ping is working from all the computers for example ping 192.168.1.1 is working and ping SRVWIN2K8 is also working. But when trying to access ressources by \\SRVWIN2K8\share_name i have this message depending on the computer from which i am tying to access these ressources "Network path not found".

I have redirected all my user pofiles on that server and nobody can access it. Please any suggestion in solving this issue??

    Thanks for your replies

    hi every one,

Thank you for you replies and suggestions. I have tried all the suggested steps but nothing happened. I have realised    that symantec EndPoint protection is installed on that DC and was blocking some communication ports. I went to Symantec site and downloaded a special pach for that specific problem and thanks to that everything is ok now.
    thank you once again

    Hello,

How is your DNS configured? Do you install DNS on the W2K8 Domain Controller? Please do an ipconfig /all on the domain controller and from one of your workstation that is not accessing the shares and post to the forum.

    Hello,

i agree with Isaac about DNS and the output will help us to exclude DNS as an issue. Also make sure that no firewall is not blocking any traffic either on workstations or servers.

    Hi,

Please also confirm if you have joined the client computers to the domain. If so, please logon the client computers with an account that is member of domain admins group, and then access the share folder on the Windows Server 2008 computer and check if the issue goes away.

I look forward to your response.
