Hi,
DC OS - Window Server 2008 R2 Standard.
Client OS - window XP, Window 7
Is it possible to update Group Policy Offline?
I have some laptop outside the LAN, the user don't have access to Internet also.
So, i am wondering, is it possible to update Group Policy through some files which i can send via CD or any mass storage.
Do you have any idea? how to do that? Thanks & Regards,
Param

Is it possible to update Group Policy Offline? Yes !
You can export local group policy and then import them on desired machines which are offline !
For details, refer "How Can I Export Local Group Policy Settings Made In Gpedit.Msc?"

Hello,
no, GPO update requires access to the domain.

no, GPO update requires access to the domain.
GPOs applied on a particular machine can be exported locally and can be restored on machines which are offline. I had tried this, it works perfectly well. Florian's blog linked in my previous post has the detailed instructions.
However I must say, if there would be any policy change, the export-import exercise needs to be repeated again on offline machines.

@Santosh:
He asked for Domain GPOs, not local policies.Anyway, it is possible, but not for free.
Have a look at GPAnywhere.

The LocalGPO tool allows you to do this... you can save it to a USB stick and just apply the setting... I have a blog post about it at... http://www.grouppolicy.biz/2011/03/introducing-microsoft-security-compliance-manager-v2/
