How to remove/disable GPO central store

Hello,
I am having trouble in finding a guide/steps how to remove/disable GPO central store. I do not want to use it any more. I am using Windows 2008 R2 forest and domain.
I can not delete \\domainname\SYSVOL\domainname\policies folder even though I am not sure if that would accomplish this. Also, I am not sure if that would delete my current GPO's.
Any guidance would be appriciated, thanks!

instead of trying to delete the "\policies\" folder, try deleting the "\PolicyDefinitions\" folder
you should do this on the PDCe, and FRS or DFS should then kick in and remove the folder/files from the other DC's.
I also couldn't find any specific references for removing/deleting the GP Central Store, only these:

Hello,
Thank you for the links and suggestion, deleting "\PolicyDefinitions\" folder from PDC did the thing. Now lets see how will it work.
