I need to transfer a SBS 2008 VM on Hyper-v to a physical server. I have been told that the best way to do this is to do the SBS 2008 to SBS 2008 migration as documented by Microsoft. This seems to be the best option to get a clean and healthy machine.

My first question is is there any other method of doing this transfer that you would recommend?

The following series of questions are in relation to the SBS 2008 to SBS 2008 migration and what affect it will have on the second domain controller, member servers and client computers. A brief description of my network computers is:
1 x Hyper-V server 2008 (free version which is joined to the domain)
1 x SBS 2008 VM on the above Hyper-V Server
1 x Server 2003 member server VM on the above Hyper-V Server
1 x Server 2008 GC second domain controller on physical
3 x Server 2003 member servers on physical
    40 x Win XP clients

If the migration stuffs up and I have to restore the SBS 2008 to its state prior to migration will this have an adverse affect on the second domain controller and any other servers/clients?

Would I also have to restore the second domain controller (Server 2008 GC) if the migration stuffs up?

Is it possible or advisable to isolate the the SBS 2008 and the gateway during the migration process and and then join them back to the network when the migration is finished? (down time is not an issue as I would have all weekend to complete)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you have any suggestions please let me have them.

    Regards

    Daniel
