Monday, April 09, 2012 3:07 PMYou did not say what kind of VPN you were using to connect the two. Usually you need to enable Local LAN or split-tunneling to access networks beyond the VPN endpoints.

I agree, you didn't provide enough specifics.
- I assume neither side is using Dialup or DSL (PPPoE)
- Also, did you create static routes for the other subnet in your RRAS config, and vice versa at the other end?
.

i dont need to access network beyond VP.

You still need to provide what kind of VPN before anyone can help you. Is it based on a router, client, software? Give make/model/version,etc... It sounds like your VPN, whatever it may be, is preventing local LAN access while it is active, like most VPNs do by default.- Marked As Answer by Aiden_CaoMicrosoft Contingent Staff, Moderator Monday, April 23, 2012 1:05 AM

Hi,
Yes, you need tell us what method you are using to establish the VPN connection. Did you install RRAS role on your server? After the VPN establish, the LAN disconnection issue appear on both side? For this issue, it can be a route problem. Please check the route table after established VPN connection, and run tracert or pathping to test the packet route on the server side is correct.

I know this is a little late, but after re-reading this, I believe what's going on is similar to another recent thread:
