Remote Desktop Client certifcate error when connecting to Remote Desktop Gateway after Microsoft Update KB2592687
-
Sunday, December 30, 2012 4:25 AMAfter applying MS Update KB2592687 to the client (Windows 7), the public CA issued certificate is no longer seen. Remote Desktop Connection prompts the certificate is not from a trusted certifying authority. The Remote Desktop Gateway server checks out OK and the certificate it is using is the public CA issued one (both in RDG Manager and IIS). Uninstalling KB2592687 on the client does not help, however clients without KB2592687 ever installed have no certificate errors.

Aiden,
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, IIS is already set to ignore client certificates.
Just to be sure you understood, clients can connect, they are however only prompted that the certificate is not trusted (because the client sees the self-signed certificate and not the trusted certificate issued by the public certificate authority). Note that the problem occurred after the client had the update before the server had the update.

Hi,
Thanks for your update.
Then, try to uninstall the update on the client. Quote from the following thread:
If the target system is not either Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012, you should disable RDP 8 on the client, or do not install 2529687.
