RDWeb apps on server in an internal domain get "Cannot Verify Identity" of the server

We have an external ( .com) and an internal (.local ) domain name. When attempting to connect to RDweb apps via the .COM domain name of the server ( hyperv.example.com ) the certificate ( self signed ) shows hyperv.example.local and the error message appears.
The hyperv server is on an external IP address and an internal address ( separate NICs ).
Will putting a .com certificate on the hyperv machine ( which is in the .local ) domain work?

You may want to add the .com website to RD gateway or re-configure the DNS. This search result may help too:
