RD Session Host 2008 R2 User Based File Association
- Hi,
I have an RD session host with windows server 2008 R2. I do need to set user based file association for certain files. I am planning to do this through a custom group policy template to create registry values at HKCU. I read a few articles on this and some said in HKCU\Software\Classes while others said HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts.
My question is, can you tell me 'exactly' what values\keys do I need to get this to work and where 'exactly' should these values be added.
Best Regards,
Amro

Hello Amro,
As additions to Mundindra’s good suggestion, there is also a KB article helpful on this topic:
(KB950505) When you run an .exe file on a Windows Vista-based or Windows 7-based computer, the file may start a different program

Besides, as the discussion on this solution is under the Group Policy field rather than Terminal Services / Remote Desktop Services technologies, if you have any further questions on this topic, please start a new thread in:
