    Hi,

Unfortunately FSRM is not available on Server Core due to dependencies.

    Hi Andrew,

    Thank's for your answer.

On http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/library/d6d480ca-18ec-4dee-aafc-a9e7971038cf1033.mspx?mfr=true I can read the follow:

"File Server Resource Manager is available in all editions of Windows Server 2008, and is a service included in the Server Core installation option of Windows Server 2008."

But I can't find this service.

How can I configure Quota on a server core?

How can I configure Shadow Copies on a server core?

    Thank's for your

    Hi,

That page is incorrect, I'll see about getting that fixed. There is no in the box quota support for Server Core. There may be 3rd party products that do work.

For shadow copies, you can use the diskshadow.exe command line tool. This behaves like netsh and diskpart in that you shell into it. I say that because running diskshadow /? doesn't tell you much. Run diskshadow and then at the diskshadow prompt /? gives you lots of details.

    Hello,

I just wanted to give this thread a bump because the page that Martin references was updated as early as two weeks ago and the content about FSRM remains. I figured I'd bring this up again as Server 2008 moves to RTM. Are there any plans on including FSRM in Server Core? I guess it's hard to imagine the File services role without the quota functionality. This was a huge win over the antiquated volume quotas.

Is there a way to manage Disk Quota with Server Core now that 2008 R2 is out?  If not, is there a plan to add it soon?  I'm being forced to reinstall the server as a full installation instead of Core unless we can find a way to configure and manage Disk Quotas.
