I have a Windows Server 2008 r2 running SQL Server 2008. My application requires msdtc. The Distributed Transaction Coordinator service will not start with the NT AUTHORITY/Nework Service credentials. There are several other services that are able to start with the NT AUTHORITY/Network Service credentials.
The sevice will start with local administrator credentials but will generate errors. The service will also start with the Local System account radio button selected but again will not function.
I have uninstalled msdtc and reinstalled it several times but I continue to have the same issues.
I have also restarted the server several times.
The Event Log has the following: The Distributed Transaction Coordinator service terminated with service specific error %% -1073737712.
Can anyboby help?

Hello,
I would start by confirming that the NT AUTHORITY\Network Service principal has full control to the %windir%\system32\msdtc folder and all files/subfolders.
If that does not help, the other resolutions may be found in KB916926: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916926

Hello,
Could you check the dependencies for the service and tell me which are running/which stopped?
