Can't import a registry snippet into Server 2008 R2

I have a registry snippet (Putty configuration) that I would like to import into 2008 R2, but every time I attempt this, I get an error "Error accessing the registry." I did a little digging (but there isn't much out there) and found permissions to be a possible culprit, but I am logged on as Administrator and I have recursively changed the permissions of the upper level key to allow the Admin account, still no dice.
Any ideas out there?

Hi,
Have you tried to modify the registry manually instead of import it? Did you get any errors?
By the way, can you share the content of the registry you want to import?

Found my problem. The registry export was from XP and the S-1... values did not match. I changed them all to match the 2008 reg values and it worked fine. Silly me, must have been lack of sleep.- Marked As Answer by Vincent HuModerator Friday, July 13, 2012 5:30 AM
