When I try to install Server 2008 Standard or Server 2008 R2 I receive an error message "The file "autorun.dll" could not be loaded or is corrupt.  Setup cannot continue.  Error code is [0x7E].

I restarted and tried to install from the CD but received the same message.

    Any assistance will be appreciated.

    Hi!

As a first course of action you should try with another ISO or DVD. If you downloaded a ISO from your volume license site, try to download the ISO file once again. Being unable to install due to ISO being corrupted during download is very common.

    Hi,

I suspect the installation image you got is corrupted. I suggest you download Windows 2008 Standard from the official website: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=5023

Then burn a DVD and try re-install.

Meanwhile, before the installation, please ensure your computer meets the Windows Server 2008 system requirement: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/bb414778
