    Team,

I have to provide a sizing for a Windows 2008 Storage server which would act as a NAS Gateway and will be used to storage user profiles for around 5000 users.

Can someone please suggest me the hardware configuration for this server in terms of CPU/Memory and Network that would suffice for 5000 users, please note that we are an IBM shop hence the server choice is restricted to IBM.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

This is a question much more related to IBM hardware solutions. Therefore, I recommend the following Website for reference:

    IBM Sizing Guides
    https://www-304.ibm.com/partnerworld/wps/sizing/sizingguides.jsp

(Note: Since the site is not hosted by Microsoft, Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.)

Please let me know the assistance I can provide from Microsoft side, which I will be glad to do.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Hi Miya,

Thanks a ton for your assistance on this.

I will look into this estimator later today but in the mean time can you share some best practices for sizing NFS share on Windows Storage server w.r.t. CPU & Memory. For disk I understand that we have to consider the IOPS etc but not sure on what grounds do we propose CPU & Memory.

    Thanks.
