    Hi all -

I am using DFS to replicate some backup files from a remote office to our corporate data center. The files are large - about 4 GB each. I am curious though... at what point will the file "appear" in my target DFS system. Will it only appear once it has been fully replicated and complete? I am asking b/c I don't have as much storage at the source server... so once the files are replicated over I want to archive them to tape and then delete them - but I don't want to delete them until I know that they have replicated over fully...

    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David,

Based on my test, if we copy a large file into one replicated folder of a current DFS link, the file won't appear in the other target DFS replicated folder at once. DFS has a prestaging and conflict resolution mechanism to replicate the distributed file.

The file will be only appear once it has been fully replicated and complete.
