2 servers share same iSCSI Target
2 servers share same iSCSI Target
Hi
I have 3 servere.
2 That is going to run Hyper-V and one for storage.
The to hyper-V's is connected to the storage server with iSCSI.
I was just wondering if it is posible for both Hyper-V's to look at the same iSCSI target?
I have tried to connect both servers to the same target but server 1 does not see what server 2 does.
Currently I use Starwind trial as iSCSI target, as I couldn't find any build in to 2008 R2, and they write that they do not support it. (With the V4)

- If your goal is simply to have Hyper-V use the iSCSI disks for storing VHDs, what you really want is Clustered SHared Volumes

MSDN is also a good resource
CSVs will allow the 2 Hyper-V servers to share the iSCSI disk
The iSCSI disks cannot be shared without CSV- Marked As Answer byDilip NaikMVP, ModeratorMonday, November 02, 2009 2:40 PM

- Yeah, that sounds like it.
Had installed cluster service, just over looked the CSV.
I will test it, Thank you!
Can server 2008 R2 native be an iSCSI target, or is that one third-party software?
/Lars - Server 2008 R2 cannot be native iSCSI target
The Microsoft iSCSI target software only runs on Windows Storage Server SKUs
I am using the free Starwind software to test CSV. Has some small problems e.g. when I restart the server, I need to redo some config. But given the price (free), I cannot complain
www.msftmvp.com and VHD tools at www.VMUtil.com - You were so absolute right, it works like a charm.
Would gladly have marked your reply as answer, but some on beat me to it :)
