am having users continuously complaining that they are missing their files and folders.
- we have a win2008 server standard used as our NAS server.
- we have windows7 and winXP operating systems running on our LAN.
- using domain controllers and group policy management, we create their file paths to their respective shared folders
everything was working ok until we installed windows7 pcs.
help needed.

Hi,
How did you identify it caused by Windows 7?
The missing files issue could be caused by various reasons. Please provide details about the missing files issue so that we can perform the further research. Thanks for your understanding.

Are you using folder redirection or roaming profiles?
If you are using roaming profiles, a new user folder with ".V2" will be created on the server when the users log into a Win7 machine. This means no files will appear on the Win7 machine. Ask the user if they can see thire files when they login to an XP machine.
If it is folder redirection, run rsop.msc from the cmd prompt as that user on the Win7 machine and post the results. This will tell us if there is an issue with the user's GP.
Thanks.

Thursday, July 26, 2012 1:55 PMI am assuming that the top RSOP is the Win7 machine. Right click on the yellow caution triangle and go to properties. Then click on the error tab and found the GP that failed. Please display the feedback it gives on why it failed. Thanks.

Were the users that are having issues with the Win7 machine ever logged in before folder redirection had been deployed via GP? I would recommend building a test user and then log in with that account on a Win7 machine. If folder redirection works for that test account, delete the local user profiles for the users where folder redirection doesn't work and see if that works. Let me know. Thanks.- Marked As Answer by Vincent HuModerator Thursday, August 09, 2012 9:24 AM
