AnswerFolder permissions

    I am having a problem setting the correct permissions. I am trying to set up a main folder with many sub folders. I want to give all users the rights to see all the subfolders within that root folder but not save anything to the root folder. They should only be able to save to a folder that represents their login name. For example, I have a root folder called "root". Everyone should be able to access root but not save anything in that folder. I have a user John Smith who has a folder called "Smith". He should be able to save his information to that folder and only view information in the other folders. Is this something that is doable? I have only been able to get it to work in that they can save to both the root and their folder.

    Hello
    On the root folder, if sharing, go to share permissions, removve everything, add  Everyone (Full Control), go to security tab, Give Administrators, System, Owner (Full control), Authenticated users (Read, List contents). Remove everythign else. select advanced tab and check box to propagate to all subfolders/files. Then on each subfolder go in and edit user permission as needed, for example JOh SMith folder, ad John Smith and give necessary rights etcIf this are home folders, this should have been done automatically.
