Windows 2008 std r2 running under VMware hangs several times a day when SHoreware director looses communications with Shoreware VOIP switches. Apparently SHoreware director is hanging the system because it can no longer communicate. question is why is te communication being broken. Switches are ADTRAN POE and phone comtinue to work, but voice mail is affected. no event entries are found except for the lost communications errors from the Shoreware application.
I don't know if the is a Windows issue, VMware issue or SHoreware issue, so this question will be cross posted on message boards for each application.

Tracert the IP which you're trying to reach. Also, check the latency.
you can also use this tool : http://softwaretopic.informer.com/ping-info-tool/ to continuous ping the IP. And check the time when packets are dropped. One you have the exact time, you can check event logs for the app/service that disconnects the session.

Hello,
as you said for Shoreware the vendor is responsible.
What exactly do you mean with hangs? Also describe the network setup and how the ip setup is done. Please post an unedited ipconfig /all form the problem machine and describe in detail what this Shoreware software is used for.
Best regards

You will need to get extra details for that.
Please check logged events in event viewer and use Wireshark to sniff the traffic and get more details.
Shareware director is not an MS product and you will need to get more details about how the product behaves when there is a loss of connectivity. For that, please contact its vendor technical support.
For troubleshooting the connectivity issue, you need to get in touch with your network experts and you may need to contact VMWARE support if you suspect that the Hypervisor is the issue.
